Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions is:
- using your NHS App account
Did you know you can manage repeat prescriptions from Blackheath Standard Surgery in the NHS App?
You can easily choose where your prescriptions are sent. So, if you know you’ll be away from home or you are moving home, you can change your nominated pharmacy from within the app.
You can also order your prescription at any time that suits you. There’s no need to wait to join a telephone queue or wait until the GP surgery opens.
It’s easy to use, and, if you hit a snag, you can go to ‘Help’ in the top right-hand corner of the app or visit nhs.uk/helpmeapp. Find out more about the NHS App at: www.nhs.uk/nhsapp
You can also:
- fill out a repeat prescriptions request form
- bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 6.30pm
We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email
Collecting your prescription
You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it. You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the NHS app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- at your GP practice
- at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescription requests

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
Medication review
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to speak to a doctor or practice nurse or clinical pharmacist at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
If you have been advised by the surgery that your medication review is due, you will need to fill out our Medication Review Form.
If you are on repeat medication and you reach your maximum number of issues, please note that you must complete online triage form for a medication review with our clinical pharmacist before a further prescription can be issued.
